SYNOPSIS OF MUSICAL:
The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!
CAST OF CHARACTERS:
SEYMOUR (Tenor/Baritone - playing age of mid 20s) An insecure, put-upon florist's clerk and eventual hero. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills.
AUDREY (Mezzo-soprano - similar playing age to Seymour) Bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor.
MR. MUSHNIK (Baritone) or MRS. MUSHNIK (Alto) (middle aged) This part can be played by either male or female. Their boss. A failure of an East Side florist.
ORIN (Tenor/Alto) -late 20s-early 40s?) A handsome/pretty dentist with a black leather jacket and cruel. An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend
THE PLANT AUDREY II (Baritone) or (Alto/Belter) This part can be played by either male or female. An anthropomorphic cross between a giant Venus flytrap and an avocado. The creature is played by a series of 3 increasingly large puppets AND Will probably wear the last plant as a costume and be onstage.
AUDREY II- possible puppeteer
CRYSTAL, RONNETTE, CHIFFON, (DIANA, JEAN and LYNDA) – (Soprano,Mezzo,Alto) (playing age of late teens to 20s) 3/6 female street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus.
